There are a few scenarios where you might want to add a new line of service to your AT&T wireless plan. To make that process as easy as possible, here are a few simple guides on how to do that in three common situations.
If you want to buy a new phone from AT&T and activate service for an additional person—for your teenager’s first cell phone, for example—you can add a line of service to your account. Here’s how it works.
1. Shop for phones and choose a device.
2. Select the add a line option from the device page.
3. If you are already a customer, log into your myAT&T account and select a plan for your new line.
4. Finish checkout and complete your order.
If you want to add a line for a phone you already own, you may be able to do that through AT&T’s bring your own device program. Checkout out this other TechBuzz article for more details on how to do this but here are a few things to keep in mind: the phone needs to be eligible to work on the AT&T network; the phone must be unlocked before you can activate it with AT&T; and you’ll likely need a SIM card from AT&T. You can go here to order a new SIM card from AT&T or activate a SIM you already have. You can then add a line to your account using the bring your own device program.
You can save money and manage multiple lines by activating an AT&T PREPAID multi-line account(restrictions apply). To do that, you’ll need to invite your family members onto your multi-line account. Here’s how you can do that.
If you aren’t an AT&T PREPAID customer yet, this process will be a little bit different. Here’s how it works for new customers.
Hopefully, this post made it clear how you add more lines onto your account. Now, you should be sure to visit the AT&T wireless plans page to see which plan will work best for your new line.
